It has been reported that the Ghana Broadcasting Corporation (GBC), a state-owned entity, cancelled an interview with Nana Kwame Bediako, also known as Cheddar or Freedom Jacob Caesar, at the "last minute" due to an alleged "order from above."
Cheddar, the founder and leader of The New Force political movement, has been on a media tour recently, with the final stop being an anticipated interview on GTV.
Prior to the scheduled date for the interview, Cheddar kindly shared the news on his social media platforms about his upcoming appearance on GTV, encouraging his followers to tune in and not miss the broadcast. "I will be appearing live on @GTV_Ghana tomorrow morning. Please make sure not to miss it. "The New Force," he wrote.
However, to everyone's surprise, he notified his followers about the unforeseen change of plans. It seems that the public broadcaster claimed to have received orders from higher authorities, resulting in the cancellation of the interview scheduled for Wednesday, January 17. "Regrettably, we must inform you that my interview with @GTV_Ghana has been unexpectedly cancelled due to unforeseen circumstances." It's interesting how this reminds me of The Convention. "The New Force, the voice of the people," Cheddar expressed with sadness.
This incident follows closely after Cheddar's recent disclosure in an interview on TV3, where he revealed investing a significant $300,000 in an event aimed at showcasing him as the driving force behind 'The New Force' movement. Regrettably, the government has unexpectedly cancelled "The Convention," an event organised by the New Africa Foundation and scheduled for January 7, 2024.
Cheddar expressed his concerns about the government's treatment, emphasising that he had made arrangements and paid for the Black Star Square venue ahead of time. "The Convention" was scheduled to showcase esteemed Pan-African leaders, such as P.L.O. Lumumba from Kenya, Peter Obi from Nigeria, and Dr Arikana Chihombori-Quao from Zimbabwe, who had already arrived in the country. Unfortunately, they were left disheartened by the unforeseen cancellation.
As the ongoing controversy surrounding the cancelled interview unfolds, there are inquiries regarding the nature of the "orders from above" and the potential implications for Freedom Jacob Caesar's political movement, 'The New Force.'
Additional clarification is eagerly anticipated from both him and the Ghana Broadcasting Corporation regarding this extraordinary development.
