A police officer who defrauded an MTN agent was arrested.

 


An MTN agent is said to have been defrauded of GH₵14,460 by a police officer who has been detained.

Constable Ernest Agyemang Darko, the suspect, is employed by the Police Headquarters' National Visibility Unit.

He turned to deception, according to the Constable, to pay off debts from gaming.

According to reports, the incident happened on November 29, 2023.Benjamin Tawiah, an MTN sales agent at the Kasoa branch off of New Market Road, reported him.

Mr. Tawiah claims that the policeman went to the MTN headquarters and asked that GH₵ 14,460 be transmitted to other phone numbers.


The policeman gave him instructions to transmit "GH₵4,060, GH₵5,000, GH₵5,000, and GH₵400 to different phone numbers," he continued.

Nevertheless, once the transactions were finished, G/Const. Darko neglected to pay the entire sum.

In an attempt to get the money, he next took the MTN Agent to the CBG bank in Kasoa, which is located across from the MTN Office.

Mr. Tawiah reported the incident to the Kasoa Central District Patrols team, but the bank was closed.

G/Const. Darko was captured by the crew, and he was brought to the Kasoa Police Station for additional examination.
