updated: White woman who shot a black mother because her children were playing outdoors has been arrested.

According to a Tru News investigation investigation, the white woman suspected of shooting and killing a black mother-of-four over an argument concerning the deceased woman's children has been detained and charged four days after the incident.

The Marion County Sheriff's Office reported that Susan Louise Lorincz, 58, was accused of manslaughter with a firearm on Tuesday, June 6, as well as culpable negligence, battery, and two counts of assault.

Sheriff Billy Woods declared in a video aired on Tuesday that "the justice we have all been seeking has been served." It comes after public pressure forced police to act after they initially stated they needed more time to assess the possible impact of Florida's "stand your ground" statute on the incident.

Ajike "AJ" Owens was fatally shot by Lorincz, a white man, through a closed door in Ocala on Friday night.

Before the kids went to tell their mother, it's claimed that Lorincz hurled a roller skate at one of Ms. Owens' kids and swung an umbrella at another. After learning of the incident, Ms. Owens reportedly crossed the street to talk to the neighbour, at which point Lorincz is alleged to have shot the mother-of-four through her door. Later, Ms. Owens passed away from her wounds at a hospital.

According to the police, they were able to prove through their investigation and the testimony of witnesses that "Lorincz's actions were not justifiable under Florida law."

People are effectively allowed to use deadly force if they believe their lives are in danger under Florida's "stand your ground" statute. We are not allowed to make an arrest whenever we suspect, perceive, or believe that [the "stand your ground" rule] may apply. The law expressly states that Billy Woods, the sheriff, stated at a press conference on Monday.

Before we can even make the arrest, "and what we have to rule out is whether this deadly force was justified or not."

Prior to the shooting, Woods stated that Owen's children had a disagreement with the neighbour over their presence on her property. He claimed that since January 2021, officers have responded to complaints about the ongoing conflict six times.

Remember how this internet source said that the gunman "engaged" with Owens' children before hurling a pair of skates at them and hitting them? That shooter was then thought to be a woman. A witness told police that there had been a dispute over a child's tablet computer before the shooter tossed the skates at the children, according to a sheriff's office incident report.

Following that meeting, one of the children went home to inform their mother, who proceeded to the neighbor's home "to confront the lady," according to the sheriff.

Before Owens was fatally shot through the door, the gunman said that there was "a lot of aggressiveness" on both sides and threats were made. This is according to Woods. witnesses told authorities what happened.

The event report states that before being shot, Owens went to the shooter's home and knocked on the door. According to the authorities, a hospital later confirmed Owens dead. The sheriff added that the shooter was assisting law officers when they opened fire on Owens. No arrests have been made in relation to the case.

Owens' kid, according to a family member, was standing next to her when she was killed. According to Woods, investigators and the State Attorney's Office think the shooting may have been carried out in self-defense, which is permitted in Florida, hence the gunman has not been apprehended.

According to Woods, deputies had been summoned to at least half a dozen conflicts involving Owens and the gunman since January 2021.
