We're not just talking about the extra episodes when we say Yellowstone Season 5 will be bigger than ever. The following season will consist of 14 episodes rather than the previous season's ten, and it will be split into two half, each with seven episodes.
Furthermore, a significant revelation from Taylor Sheridan's neo-western has revealed an even greater star-studded ensemble as well as hints about what fans can expect from TV's number one series in season 5.
Fans of 'Yellowstone' should expect flashbacks in season 5.
Josh Lucas, Kylie Rogers, and Kyle Red Silverstein will return in season 5 to reprise their roles as young John Dutton, Beth Dutton, and Rip Wheeler, according to a recent Yellowstone news release. Season 5 will have additional flashbacks, according to this part of the casting announcement.
Since his cameo appearance in season 2, Lucas hasn't played the younger version of Kevin Costner's role. Meanwhile, fans last saw a young Beth and Rip (played by Kelly Reilly and Cole Hauser as adults) in Season 3 when Yellowstone explored the beginnings of their teen romance. As well as the reason for Beth's long-running feud with her brother Jamie (Wes Bentley).
Mo Brings Plenty and Wendy Moniz have been promoted to series regulars.
The Duttons' political dealings, or at least John Dutton's candidacy for governor, appears to be a key storyline in season 5. After four seasons as a recurring character, Wendy Moniz, who plays Montana governor Lynelle Perry, has been promoted to series regular.
Mo Brings Plenty (Mo), a fan favorite, has been promoted to series regular, which means the Broken Rock Reservation will get more screen time in the following season.
Another returning character is Market Equities CEO Caroline Warner, played by Australian actress Jackie Weaver.
Caroline has returned," Reilly said to TV Insider. "She also has friends." They're aware of what [the Duttons] are up to, and they're not taking it lightly."
Four new recurring characters have joined the cast of 'Yellowstone.'
There will be four new faces in the season 5 Yellowstone cast, in addition to the return of Lucas, Rogers, Silverstein, and Weaver, as well as the promotions of Moniz and Brings Plenty. Kai Caster of American Horror Story will portray Rowdy, a teenage cowboy, and Lainey Wilson will play Abby, a young musician.
Lilli Kay, who starred in Your Honor and Rustin, has been cast as Clara Brewer, the new Dutton assistant. Dawn Olivieri, a House of Lies alum, rounds out the newcomers, and she might be one of Caroline's "friends," as Reilly hinted.
Sarah Atwood will be played by Olivieri, who previously acted as Claire Dutton in the prequel 1883. "Confident, corporate shark and newcomer to Montana," as this character is described.
Yellowstone Season 5 starts on the Paramount Network on Sunday, November 13th. Seasons 1–4 are now available to watch on Peacock.
