Kendrick Lamar is "One of the Greatest Writers of Our Time," according to Pharrell.

Pharrell praised Kendrick Lamar, one of his regular collaborators, as one of the best songwriters of our time, describing the Compton rapper's dedication and devotion to his craft.

Pharrell highlighted the production of K-current Dot's album, Mr. Morale & the Big Steppers, as an example in his recent Apple Music 1 interview with Zane Lowe. "Kendrick is one of our time's best authors," he remarked, "and he's a wonderful writer because he understands how to be really disciplined with a subject matter.

He understands the importance of stickiness and how it should feel. So I watched as the beats struck him and it just bubbled to the surface, whatever the song was making him feel, and I watched him commit to it and stay disciplined."

"He's unusual," he continued. In terms of this album, and this entire body of work, there are a lot of topics that not only Black men, but all men, needed to discuss, as well as other issues that all people needed to discuss. Nobody seemed to be saying anything, or if they were, they weren't saying anything coherently, so he just raised his hand and said, 'I'll do it.' For a lot of individuals, this record will be medicine."

On Mr. Morale & the Big Steppers, the Neptunes stalwart worked as a producer and writer on the Tanna Leone-assisted track "Mr. Morale."
