Season 5 of Yellowstone: Everything we know so far

Season 5 of "Yellowstone" will start on November 13, 2022. This date has already been set. Like in the past, new episodes of the show will come out on Sundays at 8 p.m. ET (7 p.m. CT). But unlike previous seasons, it looks like the 14-episode arc will be split into two parts, like "Better Call Saul" or "The Walking Dead." That means there will be more "Yellowstone" than in previous years, but there may also be a bit of a break between the first and second halves of the season.

As usual, the show will be on the Paramount Network and the Paramount+ website and app for streaming. At this point, the network might as well be called the Taylor Sheridan extended universe, since the creator of "Yellowstone" is doing so well in the ratings with not only this show but also a number of spin-offs and other projects. By pairing "Yellowstone" with new Sheridan projects, Paramount will get a boost from the show's steady ratings. This means that Sylvester Stallone's show "Tulsa King" will start in November on the same night as the fifth season of "Yellowstone."

What we think will happen in the fifth season of Yellowstone

Most likely, the show will pick up where season 4 left off, with a lot of drama surrounding Kelly Reilly's character Beth. In the season finale, Beth not only married her on-and-off boyfriend Rip (Cole Hauser), but she also made Jamie (Wes Bentley) kill Garrett, his real father (Will Patton). Beth uses the opportunity to take pictures of Jamie throwing away the body. Now she has something she can use to blackmail the man who is running for Governor.

John (Kevin Costner), on the other hand, seems like a better choice for Governor, even though he only seems to be running to show Jamie how wrong she is. John also paid Jimmy's (Jefferson White) medical bills after he was hurt in a rodeo, and it looks like Jimmy will leave this show to join the spin-off "6666." Harrison Ford and Helen Mirren are working on a prequel spinoff show called "1923," but it's not clear if any "Yellowstone" plots will be changed to make room for that show this season.

What we know about the Season 5 cast of Yellowstone

Costner, Hauser, Bentley, and Reilly, along with other main cast members like Gil Birmingham, Luke Grimes, and Kelsey Asbille, look like they will be back for this season of "Yellowstone." TVLine says that Wendy Moniz, who plays Governor Perry, Moses Brings Plenty, who plays Mo, Jennifer Landon, who plays Teeter, and Kathryn Kelly, who plays Emily, will be promoted to series regulars. Also, the season will probably have more flashbacks, since Josh Lucas, Kylie Rogers, and Kyle Red Silverstein are all coming back to play John, Beth, and Rip when they were younger. Jacki Weaver, who is always great, will also be back as businesswoman Caroline Warner.

There will also be some new ranchers and locals. Actor Kai Caster from "The Baxters" will play a cowboy named Rowdy, country singer Lainey Wilson will play a musician named Abby, and "Your Honor" actor Lilli Kay will play the new assistant of a Dutton family member. TVLine says that Dawn Olivieri, who was in "1883," will play a "corporate shark" named Sarah in this show as well.
