Power Book III: Raising Kanan’: Did Kanan Kill Ghost’s Father?

Power Book III: Raising Kanan, the much anticipated prequel to Power, will premiere on Starz on July 18. Set in Queens, New York in the 1990s, the show follows 15-year-old Kanan Stark (Mekai Curtis) as he prepares to mentor James "Ghost" St. Patrick (Omari Hardwick) and Tommy Egan (Joseph Sikora).

This Kanan is a far cry from Curtis "50 Cent" Jackson's mature portrayal of the character, which was nasty and scary. However, both 50 Cent and Power creator Courtney A. Kemp have guaranteed fans that the character's transition will begin soon.

Despite the fact that 50 Cent has stated that Power Book III: Raising Kanan will focus on Kanan's "innocence period," some fans believe we'll see his first deadly act, which coincides with Ghost's life path.

Is it true that Ghost died on 'Power'?

The original Power centered on James "Ghost" St. Patrick, a heroin lord and businessman who grew up on the streets of New York after his father died. When we first meet Ghost, he's trying to leave the drug world behind and become fully legitimate.

Unfortunately, Ghost's plans do not come to fruition. Despite his best efforts to distance himself from his life in the underground, forces such as his best friend and business partner Tommy Egan (Joseph Sikora) continue to lure him in. His decisions ultimately cost him his life.

Even after Ghost bled out at his nightclub Truth at the end of Power, some fans aren't convinced he's gone. In a scene from Power Book II: Ghost, Ghost's son Tariq (Michael Rainey Jr.) stands at his father's grave while an ambulance passes by in the distance. The only other occasion we've seen an ambulance, according to fans, was when Ghost was shot. In the scene, there is also a dark person watching Tariq.

Fans of 'Power Book III: Raising Kanan' believe Kanan murdered Ghost's father.

While we don't know if Ghost made it through Power, some fans believe Kanan played a role in Ghost's father's death. Ghost's father, Curtis St. Patrick, ran a nightclub, which inspired Ghost to create Truth, according to Power. We also heard that after reporting narcotics dealers to the police, Ghost was murdered by them. This, according to one Redditor, will all come full circle in Power Book III: Raising Kanan.

"According to Express, there's a character named Symphony Bosket who will feature in Power Book 3," the Redditor explained. "According to the narrative, he is working on his Master's degree while bartending at a prominent nightclub, where he meets Kanan's mother, Raquel. What if this is Curtis' nightclub? People are excited to see Ghost and Tommy as teenagers and how they met Kanan and Breeze, but we don't talk about how Curtis became connected with drug dealers and died."

Is 50 Cent going to make an appearance in 'Power Book III: Raising Kanan'?

Power Universe fans are interested to see if Power Book III: Raising Kanan will include flashforward clips of 50 Cent as an adult Kanan, in addition to seeing if this idea comes true.

"To be honest with you, I'd love to see all different interpretations of that," Kemp told Deadline. "However, I want to make sure that Raising Kanan has the ability to stand alone and not compete with Ghost."
